#FEESMUSTFALL

THE #FEESMUSTFALL movement or campaign was a wake up call to the South African government. It had a significant impact on how people look at education in South Afriaca, and higher education institutions. The feesmustfall campaign came with a lot of advantages or rather became  a success for students, celebrities such as Xolani Gwala started paying attention on how students struggle to get education. He started an initiative by raising or donating money for university students.Nedbank also donated a large amount of two millon to the access campaign aimed at helping student of all kinds to afford university and.Click for more information

The #feesmustfall campaign became a great success when the president Jacob Zuma announced in pretoria that there will be 0% increase of fees in all higher education institutions in 2016 and he is also to look at broader issues affecting university students. This year the government also allocated an extra 10 million rands to boost the national student financial aid scheme. This was done to avoid financial exclusion since a lot of students can not afford university fees.I can gladly say the South African government was able to deal with this matter in a good way,at the end of the year students successfully wrote examinations in peace. For more information click here

The disadvantages of the #feesmustfall campaign

University students protesting the increase of fees.
The #feesmustfall campaign had  negative impact on the South African government.Ministers and political parties were starting to point fingers at who is to blame for the crisis. The 0% increase also created a shortfall of about 3 billion and the higher education department needs to find a way to recover.I never thought South Africa would be what it is today. We students have to protest to be taken seriously or noticed.During the protests some students got violent,i really don't support such acts mainly because they did not solve anything but created a financial problem for the country.Click here for more

Recommendations for the future strategic use of the #feesmustfall campaign
Students should engage in violent free protests because destroying things does not help and that way in future there will be no injured or arrested students. All South African political parties that form part of government should join hand in finding solutions that affect the country rather than pointing fingers. The campaign should be done beginning of the year since students did not graduate last year because of it.
